US–Iran strikes escalate Strait of Hormuz tensions
Iran fired 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones at the UAE on Monday, May 4 — its first attack against the emirate since a fragile ceasefire came into vogue on April 6. UAE air defences intercepted all threats heading to the UAE, but a fire in Fujairah saw three people injured.
It is also because of the growing Gulf tensions with US forces targeting Iranian IRGC boats with the start of “Project Freedom” along with Washington's warning to take 'retaliatory measures' if a US ship comes under fire. Dubai and Sharjah authorities decided to switch schools to online learning temporarily due to the security situation. Regional shipping is increasingly disrupted as the “double blockade” widens to cover the Strait of Hormuz.
