Trump rushed off stage at White House Correspondents’ Dinner
President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, DC on Saturday night was quickly rushed off stage by Secret Service agents after a brief commotion Friday disrupted the star-studded event.
Initial accounts indicate that several gunshots were reportedly fired near the venue, triggering a quick and joint response from federal law enforcement and security. Agents secured the area and Trump, as well as other high-ranking officials and attendees were swiftly moved to safety.
Authorities said the president was unharmed; they also noted that one person was arrested. The FBI, Secret Service and local law enforcement agencies were conducting a full investigation into the incident — including examining the suspect's motives and any potential threats.
Aside from the outburst, it ended the yearly tradition of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner which gathers political leaders, media folks and stars of Hollywood. Trump praised the quick response by security units and described their actions as “very brave and very professional.”
