RTA Opens Hessa Street Project to Slash Travel Time

Dubai RTA Hessa street

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority just opened the massive Hessa Street Development Project today. This incredible upgrade slashes your travel time from 15 minutes down to just four minutes.

The newly completed 4.5-kilometer route drastically improves traffic flow between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Doubling Road Capacity

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer directs the RTA as Chairman. He recently inspected the final project preparations before the official opening.

Al Tayer explained that the project completely doubles the road capacity. The street now accommodates 16,000 vehicles every hour instead of just 8,000.

This strategic corridor serves major residential areas like Al Barsha and Jumeirah Village Circle. Experts expect the local population to exceed 640,000 residents by 2030.

Four Major Intersections Upgraded

Engineers successfully widened the street to four lanes in each direction. They totally revamped four main intersections along the busy route.

Crews built a new two-lane directional ramp above the Dubai Metro Red Line at Sheikh Zayed Road. They also added a fourth lane to the existing bridge at First Al Khail Street.

Workers constructed a brand new parallel bridge at the Al Asayel Street intersection. Finally, teams built a direct elevated ramp at Al Khail Road to serve northbound traffic heading toward Sharjah.

Phase Two Construction Begins

The RTA already started working on the second phase of this massive development. This next three-kilometer section extends toward Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Builders will construct new bridges and a 480-meter tunnel across three main intersections. These upcoming upgrades will double capacity and reduce your commute from 24 minutes to five minutes.

This future phase directly benefits around 650,000 people living in 10 different communities. It serves key areas like Arjan, Dubai Science Park, and Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
