Parkin launches ‘Spots for Shops’: How to get free parking in Dubai

Dubai: Parkin, the largest operator of paid public parking facilities and services in Dubai has today launched 'Spots for Shops', a first-of-its-kind initiative that enables drivers to validate their parking fees on the Parkin app by also supporting neighbourhood small businesses, turning routine stops into opportunities to discover and support local outlets.

In a city where 90 per cent of citizens are reliant on private vehicles, one of the highest rates in the world of car dependency, parking is also not only about movement. It shapes where they pull over, where they spend and which businesses get attention.

While larger retail destinations thrive with free parking, smaller neighbourhood shops usually rely on paid public spaces right in front of their establishments, where even a quick stop is up for a price.

The new measure seeks to change that dynamic. Drivers can earn park credit that will offset their parking fees by making qualifying purchases at participating businesses through the Parkin app, and credits get added directly to their Parkin wallet. It effectively extends the convenience of mall parking to the street, converting parking from a cost into motivation to discover the city’s smaller, often less visible businesses.

How ‘Spots for Shops’ works:

  • Pay fee payable in your parking zone

  • Do a qualifying purchase specified in the minimum spend by the merchant

  • Get your parking validated in the Parkin app with your mobile number

  • Get instant rewards directly in your Parkin Wallet

Initial participating businesses include Ravi Restaurant, Naif Baker, The Laundry Hub, Damyati Plus, Cycle 2 Cycle and San Diego Key Cutting as well Al Embratoor and Soam Vegetarian. More are expected to sign on as the initiative grows.

In it — first phase, the pilot will include 15 companies, and parking redemption on the Parkin app is expected to go live in early May 2026. For businesses wishing to get involved with the initiative, visit Parkin’s website www. parkin. ae/spots-for-shops.

With this initiative, Parkin is providing a digital ecosystem that helps small businesses enhance footfall with parking validation and cashback offerings as residents and visitors gain access to their neighbourhood destinations throughout the city.

Commenting on the campaign, Osama AlSafi, Chief Operating Officer at Parkin, said: “Small businesses are an essential part of Dubai’s economic fabric, and ‘Spot for Shops’ is a testament to how Parkin is rethinking parking as an enabler of urban mobility and local commerce. “By integrating parking with every day retail experiences, we can help customers reach neighbourhood destinations more easier and also help sustain local businesses while directly fueling the broader ecosystem that powers the city’s progress.”

Created in partnership with FP7 McCANN and produced by No Garlic No Onions, the campaign is not limited to the app. Designated parking spaces will have custom artwork and messaging displayed, which would transform them into street-level billboards encouraging drivers to explore participating businesses and nearby explorations.
