HM Issues Four Royal Decrees Regarding Flood Protection Dam Projects

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued four Royal Decrees to strengthen flood protection infrastructure across the Sultanate of Oman. These important decrees grant public utility status to major dam construction projects in several key regions, including Wadi Majlas in Quriyat, the Niyabat of Lima in Khasab, the Niyabat of Samad al Shan in Al Mudhaibi, and Wadi Bani Omar al Gharbi in Liwa.

These strategic infrastructure developments are aimed at reducing flood risks, safeguarding communities, and protecting public and private property from natural disasters.

The projects are expected to significantly enhance flood management systems in Muscat, Musandam, North Sharqiyah, and North Batinah Governorates. By prioritizing these dam initiatives, the Sultanate is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of residents while strengthening national resilience against extreme weather events.

This move reflects Oman’s commitment to sustainable development, public safety, and infrastructure modernization. The Royal Decrees mark a major advancement in the country’s disaster preparedness strategy and demonstrate leadership in addressing environmental challenges while supporting long-term security for communities across the nation.
