Dubai Marathon to celebrate 25th anniversary with elite athletes
The Dubai Marathon will celebrate its 25th edition on February 1 with a quick and flat course that will see runners treated to a grandstand finish in the grounds of the Dubai Police Academy.
Continue its strong partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, the race is widely-regarded to have a flat and fast course – making it appealing for elite and tens of thousands of recreational runners that aim to achieve their personal best.
And where thousands will again have a chance to post fast times while running down the wide middle of Jumeirah Beach Road and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, runners will notice some flourishes along the course most notably a grandstand finish erected on the parade grounds of the Dubai Police Academy.
The race start times have also been changed with the marathon elites getting under way at 5.45am before the general marathon masses step over the start line at 6.30am - which is 30 minutes earlier than in 2025.
Race scheduleThe date for the extremely popular 10km Road Race and the 4km Fun Run will be confirmed later. All the details – including the race route maps – will be shared soon on the official website dubaimarathon. org.
“The continuous development of the city’s infrastructure has enabled us to work with our colleagues at Dubai Police, RTA, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Sports Council to come up with a route that will appease all stakeholders,” Event Director Peter Connerton said.
“We are grateful to Dubai Police for bringing the event’s finishing in the parade grounds of the Dubai Police Academy which will also include space for spectator grandstand seating – as well as our popular Dubai Marathon Family Village, exhibitor stalls and live stage entertainment.
Minor amends include turns at Dubai Media City and 280m after the Mehemal Junction. A little further on, (2) laps for the Marathon runners into a turn around at Burj Al Arab instead of at Madinat. And other fun spots along the route.
The first marathon in the world to achieve IAAF Gold Label status And the piece of history has clear significance; time and again over the past quarter century, athletes competing under the banners from all corners of the globe have created landmark moments against its backdrop.
