Dubai’s Parkin instals curb, pole parking cameras across 3 major locations
On Wednesday, May 13, Parkin said it had now installed more than 500 curb and pole cameras in three major areas of Dubai.
These cameras are being installed in Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa and Al Corniche as part of the initial phase of a new system covering on-street parking across the emirate
Importantly, the curb-side cameras are the first in its type for the region. Phase One seeks to create a quicker and more predictable parking experience for consumers by cutting down the time spent looking for parking spots, reducing “the risk of hidden fines”, and offering auto-payments via the Parkin app.
License plate recognition (LPR) cameras have also been deployed across controlled parking areas in the emirate, with 200 more being installed across various sites.
The systems use artificial intelligence powered camera technology to take pictures of vehicles and automatically read number plates. This will help detect entry and exit times, calculate parking time, automatically pay the fees, and also identify violations.
These will all be solar powered and provide real-time parking availability data via occupancy detection, as well as enabling automatic payment of fees. The two systems will be integrated in the Parkin App, allowing payment with 1 click via Parkin Wallet.
The implementation provides real-time tracking and automated enforcement of occupancy, thus helping to increase parking availability and turnover while alleviating searching for parking congestion.
Elsewhere, in February 2026, Parkin started to trial a different smart scan vehicle camera technology on one of its inspection vehicles.
The scan camera system mounted on top of cars will be deployed in some of the most congested areas to reduce field inspections on foot.
